Visiting a Marsh
UGA Marine Extension Service - The University of Georgia's Marine Education Center and Aquarium (MECA), located on Skidaway Island, operates a saltwater aquarium and runs field trips, workshops and other educational programs for pre K-College and adult groups throughout the year. They also have a wheelchair accessible nature trail and boardwalk.
Georgia DNR Coastal Resources Division hosts workshops and kid-friendly events throughout the year, including the annual Coastfest. At their headquarters in Brunswick there is a nature and marsh trail with a self-guided brochure that can be used by teachers and parents. They also have posters, children's activities, and other resources available on their website.
Oatland Wildlife Center offers field trip programs, summer camps, and other programming.
Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve (SINERR) is one of 27 research reserves operated by the National Oceanic and Atmpospheric Administration. They run public tours, group tours, school programs, and teacher training at their facility on Sapelo Island.
Tybee Island Marine Science Center offers programs for the public, school groups, and clubs. They also operate the Coastal Georgia gallery and Discovery Shop.
Burton 4H Center on Tybee Island, which is a part of the UGA Cooperative Extension Program, runs environmental education programs for school groups as well as a summer camp.
